How does a quartz watch work?
Feb 22,2023
Quartz watches are favored by consumers for their accurate timekeeping, especially for their appearance, which can be made very light and thin without feeling heavy on the hands. So how does a quartz watch work? In the beginning, a watch was a simple timing tool. With the development of the times, technological products have entered people's lives. It's more of an ornament now. Watches are divided into mechanical watches and quartz watches. A mechanical watch is a watch that travels time through the mechanical operation.
A simple summary of a quartz watch is that it uses a battery as the energy source, a quartz oscillator as the time reference, and an integrated circuit as the core to display the time through pointers or numbers. How does the quartz watch work? Compared with the mechanical watch, its advantage is that the travel time is very accurate. This kind of watch usually has the English word "QuartzWatch" on the dial, that is, "quartz watch" in English.
The thickness is also much thinner than ordinary mechanical watches, which can be distinguished at a glance. However, the service life of the quartz watch is relatively short. First of all, its power is provided by the battery. How does the quartz watch work? When the battery is exhausted, the battery must be replaced, usually every 2-3 years. After about 8 years, the quartz oscillation will weaken, seriously affecting the accuracy of travel time.
How does a quartz watch work?
Principle 1: The oscillator generates a signal of 32768 Hz. The oscillator circuit includes a quartz crystal oscillator and a C/MOS-LSI circuit.
Principle 2: The oscillator circuit includes a fine-tuning capacitor to adjust the speed.
Principle 3: On the frequency division circuit, the oscillation signal 32768 Hz input from the oscillator circuit is divided by 2 primary and secondary frequencies until the output pulse signal is 1 Hz.
Principle 4: How does a quartz watch work? The driving circuit amplifies the one-second pulse signal output by the frequency dividing circuit, and then alternately transmits positive and negative pulse signals to the driving coil within one second of intermittent time.
Principle 5: After the drive coil receives the pulse signal current, the stepper motor will run at 60 per second. The angle is rotated intermittently.
Principle 6: The rotation of the stepping motor is transmitted to the wheel row, thereby driving the second, minute, hour hand, and calendar mechanism to rotate.
Principle 7: Silver oxide battery is the energy source for electronic circuits and stepping motors, it can supply stable power for two years or more.
The above is the working principle of quartz watches. As a quartz watch manufacturer, we have more than ten years of industry experience and can customize and design various quartz watches. Welcome to contact us.
